About Dr. Simon

Dr. Simon is a board certified, double-fellowship trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon with a unique combination of subspecialized expertise in cosmetic surgery, aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, and oculoplastic surgery. After completing medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Dr. Simon competed against hundreds of other surgeons for a highly competitive Michigan State University residency program in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in one of only three programs nationwide at that time offering an advanced five-year residency of combined general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. She attained that position and completed the required curriculum along with numerous research projects in her areas of interest.

Dr. Simon then completed a fellowship in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery in Michigan, where she gained unique experience in the SPAIR vertical/short-scar breast surgery procedures. Dr. Simon is now the first and only surgeon in the southeastern United States with fellowship training in SPAIR breast surgery. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Cosmetic and Oculoplastic Surgery with an Emory-affiliated practice in Atlanta. Dr. Simon is the only plastic surgeon in the country to have completed both of these unique and prestigious surgical fellowships.

Dr. Simon's active academic interest has included clinical research in the areas of ultrasonic liposuction, reconstructive and cosmetic facial burn surgery, reconstructive breast surgery (for women with breast cancer), breast reduction surgery, and breast lift surgery. Dr. Simon has been published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, an internationally recognized plastic surgery journal. She has also authored articles on SPAIR breast surgery and lower body contouring which were published in New You Atlanta, and has been featured in Atlanta Magazine, Season, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Atlanta Woman, Jezebel, Points North, Creative Loafing, and Atlanta Business Chronicle. As a recognized expert in cosmetic and breast surgery, Dr. Simon is a frequent source when the media is seeking information. She has appeared as a guest on Fox 5's "Good Day Atlanta," Fox 5 News, and numerous radio stations including the KICKS 101.5 morning show and the Q100 morning show.

Dr. Simon is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only plastic surgery board which is recognized and accredited by the American Board of Medical Specialties (see www.abms.org and www.abplsurg.org).
